as crafters we all know the importance of getting the most out of the products we buy. as a designer, it’s important for me to always try to find new ways to use the products i design in the hopes to inspire you to create with them. i love the dimensional monster dies i released with sizzix last halloween allowing you to create 3-D paper sculptures with ease. today is one of those projects where inspiration comes in the form of a simple quote: “trust your crazy ideas” – so it’s time to fall madly in love with those monsters all over again…
supplies used: thinlit dies/monster/zombie/vampire/doily/shape strips, vagabond, precision base plate, magnetic platform, cardstock/kraft core/distress, distress ink, mini ink blending tool, tiny attacher, regions beyond halloween paper, jute string, foam tape, adhesive
the concept is simple, create your monsters using neutral cardstock colors like grays, taupes, and black to create a monochromatic masterpiece…
these are easier to make than you might think – check out the video below to see how…
next i layered each finished monster on the new doily thinlits (love the detail), then again on some leftover patterned paper from my halloween regions beyond paper stash, and finally on to colored cardstock for the card base…
for added detail, i cut little hearts with the shape strips thinlit, adhered them with foam tape for more dimension, and typed up a fun message on the computer for each card…
well i hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial and i hope you’re inspired to create some little love monsters for your own valentines…t!m
