tuscany adventure awaits…

tuscanytrip

well this has certainly been an insanely busy week around the studio.  with creative chemistry wrapping up monday, and just a couple of days to take care of a few (okay several) art deadlines, there has been much to do before we leave on our next trip.  nevertheless our bags are packed and we are ready to head off to italy to share in an artful adventure in tuscany with 50 students for a 2 week journey to tuscany and rome, italy.  this has been a dream of mine to visit tuscany and the fact that i get to share this with my creative friends is going to make it even better.  we will be well taken care of during our expedition with jim west from scrapmap leading the way.  there are so many exciting things planned, sights to see, food to eat, wine to drink, and of course creativity to share…

one of the advantages to having a handy neighbor (remember art, who made this cool suitcase shelf?) is the fact that bigger tasks that i want done around the studio, finally have a chance to get done.  since i don’t have to option to shut down the studio while i’m here, this trip is the perfect opportunity to have art move in for a couple of weeks.  well that’s exactly what he’s doing (i guess he sees it as a vacation himself!) so he’s gathering up all of his supplies, sketches of the project, and will be working in the studio while we’re away – it’s perfect…

so here is the task at hand: i want a new studio table, actually i want to convert my studio table into a countertop island.  i helped sketch out what i envisioned which includes using components of my existing craft table to create the ultimate craft space.  seems easy enough right?  well, i was so busy planning that i clearly forgot one important detail – the letterpress blocks!  yes, the puzzle that took me hours to assemble under the glass countertop, and i had to go and remove them all last night…ugh.

letterpress

so now that’s done and the studio is officially out of commission until we return, but i look forward to hearing about the progress from art.  i asked him to send photos to share them with you, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated as well as share snippets of our amazing artful adventures in tuscany – we can’t wait….ciao!  t!m
