well hello again… i know it’s been a while so i thought i would share with you a recap of our travels over the past 30 days. things around the studio continue to be extremely busy, and when you pair that with the thousands of miles traveled, it’s seems like a challenge to find time to catch our breath. although we spent much of our time on airplanes, one thing i’ve learned when traveling is that even when we think we’re too busy, it’s important to make time to enjoy the journey along the way and spending it with this guy makes it all worthwhile…
back in april we headed to florida to teach at whimsodoodle in st. pete. this is such an amazing space literally filled with everything a creative mind could want. i taught a total of 6 workshops over 3 days to 200 talented and inspiring students eager to learn the how’s and the why’s in creative chemistry LIVE. thanks to jill, taylor, “professor doug”, and the entire team at whimsodoodle…
before heading to the airport our last day we set out on the open waters for my first time ever fishing. yes it’s true, i’ve never been fishing before so who better to teach me than the fish whisperer himself john (taylor’s fiancé). the weather was perfect and within’ an hour of our adventures i caught a fish – so dang excited! we checked out the little guy, took him off the hook, and back in the ocean he went. so thanks again john for a perfect “remember the now” moment…
we headed back to arizona for a few days to unpack and repack for our next trip east starting off in boston for a trade show and to teach retailer workshops for sizzix and ranger. from there we flew to ohio for simon says stamp CREATE – an absolutely awesome event…
i taught one workshop each day called “found curiosities” where we created this entire set of vignette boxes filled with papers, ephemera, layers, paper dolls, trinkets, and much more. thanks to everyone who attended for being so creative, and for sharing in the excitement of the event from the classes to the demos – the atmosphere throughout CREATE was incredible. thanks again to heidi (owner of simon says stamp) and her entire team for your hard work in making CREATE a perfect event…
we headed back home to arizona for a few days and spent one of them with our talented friend dina wakley. she drove up to spend a day in the studio teaching me her artful style of painting, then we created jewelry with my new assemblage, and of course mario took the best care of us making a delicious pizza and salad for lunch. it was a great day spent creating, laughing, and making a few priceless messes along the way…
then we were off and running again as we flew to california for the weekend to do a little junkin’ with paula and richele. the show venue was so unique, the weather perfection, and we all found a few treasures to add to our collections. the afternoon was spent shopping, eating, and enjoying time together…
we headed to the coast to set our sights on the pacific ocean before heading to hearst castle for our scheduled tour. it was absolutely incredible to learn all about this historical landmark once enjoyed by the hollywood elite, and get the chance to actually walk around the stunning grounds of the estate. if you ever get the chance, it’s worth the trip…
a few days home and back to the airport to fly to michigan to demo for stampers anonymous at the mega meet show. this event was absolutely packed with vendors, shoppers, and lots of demo watchers. thanks to everyone who took time to stop by the booth – it was one of the busiest shows i’ve ever been to but so much fun…
well that’s a recap of the past 30 days (crazy right?). even crazier is that i’m typing this blog in the car as we head back to the airport for our final trip this month. i’ll be sharing our adventures on social media all weekend so be sure to join me on instagram, facebook, and twitter. i’ll be back on the blog to post photos of the booth and share images of the new collection when we return from market. thanks again for sharing the journey…t!m
