greetings from cape town…

kichakagroupour amazing adventure continues, and even though i had started this post days ago with the best intentions on posting it before our travels home, time was just not on my side.  so as we sit here at the JFK airport waiting for our flight home to AZ, i’m finally getting the chance to catch up and share with you…

we enjoyed 3 breathtaking days and nights at the magical kichaka game lodge that has become a favorite destination during our trips to south africa.  we spent much of the time just relaxing in the lodge and taking in the beautiful south african scenery, a much needed break…

of course a visit to a game lodge means the opportunity to go on game drives for a chance to see the amazing wildlife here in south africa.  the animals are always incredible to see face to face in their habitat, however this trip i chose to experience more of it with my own eyes, than through the lens of a camera (but you can check out my posts from 2009 and 2011 for more photos and video blog)…

then there are the awe inspiring sunsets seen our on the reserve that simply take my breath away every single time…

our final stop on our south africa travels took us to the coastal beauty of cape town and the historic mount nelson hotel.  we arrived at this stunning hotel filled with history and surrounded my glistening pools and lush gardens – this would be the venue for our last two events…

we checked into our room and were immediately greeted with our view out the terrace of table mountain (a landmark in cape town).  thanks again to our hosts glenda and gary for such a wonderful opportunity to stay here…

the next morning we had an early start to get set up in the grand room for the first ever “master class” taught by myself and paula to 15 wonderful delegates.  we created two special projects for these students including an assemblage jewelry piece inspired by connie fong, and the new mini configurations book that included a stitched journal inspired by paula cheney.  we enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner with them, and shared a very creative and inspiring day together.  thank you to each of the master class delegates for an amazing day and who will always “remember the now”…

our final event day in cape town will filled with 100 very energetic and creative delegates ready to learn and shop.  the day was perfect and filled with lots of fun and laughter.  thank you to all of the delegates for sharing your day with us and learning to trust in the art of creativity, and once again to glenda and her team from sa scrapbook convention for putting on such a great event as always…

we still had one more day in cape town, and what better way to spend it than a beautiful drive around the cape and of course a little shopping along the way.  we made our way to to kalk bay and shopped the many galleries, antique shops, and curiosity shops.  we then made our way to hout bay for some breathtaking views of the coastal mountain ranges throughout the drive and finished our journey in camps bay to enjoy lunch on the beach and a chance to get our feet wet in the rather chilled atlantic ocean…
