i love it when good friends come to visit. it’s not too often we’re home, let alone without a crazy list of deadlines to get finished, but this weekend we made time. our friends joy and chelle took a road trip from california to spend the weekend with us. with only 3 short days which included their 6+ hour drive each way, we had lots on our to-do list. when they arrived we needed to unload their car that was filled with booth props from CHA that they offered to hold on to since the show and drive them here (i really appreciated that). now i can’t wait to find a new home for these treasures in the house – i always love a design challenge…
the top priority of course was the “menu” of delicious food mario always cooks. he had them make a wish list of meals for the 3 days not including the already fab breakfast of home-made scones, oatmeal, bagels, and coffees he does. as you can see the list was more than covered with lots of bonus eats throughout the weekend – what a treat (thanks mario)!
day 2 we hit the open road for a road trip to jerome and sedona since neither joy or chelle had ever been. the weather was beautiful, blue skies and sunshine. we had a great lunch and the haunted hamburger in jerome, then made our way to sedona for 3:00 o’clock coffee at starbucks – what a view…
in addition to a good lunch, the girls also had their first taste of a prickly pear margarita. prickly pear is a fruit that grows on cactus here in arizona and is sweet and delicious. so we picked up some prickly pear syrup and decided to continue the margarita party back at the house. i enjoyed a moscow mule while mario enjoyed his blue moon, lots of laughs were had that evening i assure you…
today we made our way to a local lake and enjoyed a wonderful hiking trail around the water’s edge. the weather once again was absolutely perfect and the smell of the fresh pine was whirling in the air…
we made our way along the scenic forest trail stopped to capture a photo or two along the way. tonight they were back on the road to make it back to california in time for their morning work shifts. it sure is the best feeling to enjoy time with good friends – we need to remember to do this more often and #rememberthenow.
hope you enjoy your week…t!m
