insta-story tutorial:

this past friday i posted on instagram that i planned spending time in my studio over the weekend and make something halloween.  truth is, i’ve found that if i commit to something on social media it makes me accountable to actually follow through and do it.  yesterday morning started off with a pile of supplies on my table and then i had this crazy idea to post it on my instagram story.  i wasn’t exactly sure what i was going to make, but nevertheless i was going to just be creative.  then i thought “how cool would it be if i shared the entire process of what i was making in real time?”.  it was certainly a different way to share a tutorial, i mean it wasn’t a curated blog post or edited youtube video, it was just me in my studio making something and posting the process…

i really didn’t have a clue how or if it would even make sense but in the end it was a great tutorial.  i loved being able to share not only the making of something, but the how and why along the way, what products i used, and little snippets and tips.  the tutorial combines snapshots of steps, little video clips and tips, with the end result being an actual finished project…

so i wanted to post a link to my instagram account in case you missed it.  if you’re saying you don’t have instagram, well there’s no reason you shouldn’t because it’s free just click here to sign up

once you log in search tim_holtz, follow me, and click the “zombie tutorial” highlight shown in the photo above (since instagram stories usually only last 24 hours unless they are saved as highlights).  now i’m not saying this is the new way i’ll be doing tutorials, it’s just another way for me to share and it was certainly fun to do – i hope you enjoy checking it out…t!m
