thank you media team…

i truly believe that creativity is meant to be shared, that ideas are designed to inspire, and that the journey is all about exploring the unknown…

for the past 5 months i’ve had the opportunity to share the pages of my blog with a very talented group of people that love creating as much as i do – my media team.  it’s been such fun to see all of the amazing projects and tutorials featured here as well as on their own personal blogs.  the innovation and cleverness that continued to appear week after week was so rewarding as a designer to see the products come to life in new ways…

throughout all of this creativity however, something went missing for me – personally connecting with all of you.  even though i loved the idea of having a team feature projects and inspiration on the blog, i didn’t realize that meant giving up the personal connection i have with all of you.  i miss sharing my own ideas, the day to day goings on around the studio, and taking you along the many adventures of our endless travel schedule.  it’s simply the everyday life i miss writing about on my own blog…

so i’ve made the decision to end my media team…

i look forward to getting back to my blog on a regular basis, and of course continue working with my crew: mario, paula, richele, and tammy as we have some big plans for the months ahead.   with the holidays and CHA right around the corner, there’s certainly going to be lots of exciting things to blog about!

thanks again to my media team, and to all of you for sharing the journey with us…t!m

i hope you continue to visit these talented artists on their personal blogs:

I am very glad to read this. I do visit some of their blogs on a regular basis. I really missed your blog being your own. I like some of their creations also BUT they just aren’t TIM! You have a different way of doing things and your personality comes across in your posts. I am glad you are returning to your own blog.

Yay! Love your design team but did miss you! I will continue to follow them and look forward to stalking you again

  9. I really enjoyed the design team and am sorry to see the idea come to an end. It was like my one-stop-shop for creativity and each week there was some amazing idea I had to try. It will be easier on my budget, though, ’cause maybe I won’t be buying so many new products to replicate them. I kind of need to go on a diet in that area…

I am so sorry to see the media team go. Their offerings were truly inspirational and it was exciting to see something new and varied almost every day.

The media team did a great job, BUT they are’t the same as having YOU. We all love taking the Journey with you and were missing hearing about the travels that you and Mario were on. Thank you for being you, also Mario thanks for the quick email response last week. Happy Holidays to you both, tell Mickey and Minnie hello for us.

  13. Pam L says:

Looking forward to seeing projects from you, and maybe some videos. Honestly, I didn’t visit when the media team was sharing. It’s great what they can do with your products, but its best to see from the creator himself, thank you.

I have enjoyed seeing the other artists work and it was a great thing that you have been doing by showing their work on your site! I will welcome to have things back the way they were before!

  16. Kathleen Lundman says:

I have to agree with you! I have been missing hearing about what you are doing and looking at all of your wonderful pics and videos. Glad you were reading my mind and probably many others too! I have enjoyed seeing these other artists doing their thing and getting recognized for it on your site, but been missing you Tim, and Mario and the rest of the team. Thanks so much!

  17. I am glad to see that we will be seeing more posts from you! While the projects from your team were beautiful, it sometimes did not feel like “your” blog anymore! Looking forward to the new year with you!

  18. Charlene says:

I’ve enjoyed your team, but really have missed your posts. I’m looking forward to hearing more from you!

  19. Sorry to hear about the end of the media team … their projects were very creative & inspiring, and I’ve loved every minute of it. Although, I have been missing you lately … feeling like your blog just wasn’t the same. Thanks for introducing me to some of these great artists & designers, and re-acquainting me with the others. I’ll definitely continue to follow them on their blogs!

  21. Tim, I have loved many of the projects your media team shared. I follow their blogs and was already familiar with their work. But I MISSED YOU and your special spark here on your own blog. I will continue to follow these talented people on their blogs, but will be very glad to see your work and your creativity shared here, This spot is forever yours..

  22. Pam says:

While I certainly enjoyed seeing the wonderful things the team came up with, I did notice the lack of our Tim. I will definitely be following these talented ladies on their blogs, but also I say “welcome back Tim, We missed you!

  23. Jacquelene L says:

I am very sad that the media team projects will not be on your blog. I visited daily and was inspired by their projects. I found Emma through your media team weekly review. I love her 3d projects. I bought product inspired by the media team, that I wouldn’t have thought I would buy. I liked having a feminine spin on using your products, less grungy. I will miss the media team. Would you consider a once weekly media team post, or a link on the sidebar to their blogs?

Oh my! This is so uncanny but just last week, I finally gathered my courage to express that I missed seeing YOUR original posts, ideas and creativity. I didn’t want to offend anyone but I said it here. And…….you are back!!!! So looking forward to seeing your awesome, one of a kind projects. I will still check their blogs out like I did before…….Big thanks Tim!

  29. Peggy Elvington says:

Tim I always want more, more, more from you, but I have enjoyed the media team, and since you are only one person- sometimes you have to delegate- if you go on a long vacation- or just get too busy to write a blog everyday- we’ll keep reading and doing and happily wait your return.

  30. Brenda Brown says:

Bittersweet Tim. These ladies have been fabulous with their creativity and amazing projects, but you have been missed. I shall still visit their blogs and catch up with what they are doing but I am also looking forward to seeing more of you here on your blog. I think you have made a wise decision and now I’m looking forward to the weeks and months ahead to see what you share with us.
    Take care. xxx

  31. THANKS SO MUCH or sharing!! =) I too have missed the “OLD” Tim Holtz Blog!! =) LOVED ALL of the AMAMZING Inspiration that was shared by these TALENTED Designers, but they just aren’t Tim Holtz!! =) Looking forward to the FUN ahead!! Have a FABULOUS WEEKEND!! =)

  32. Amy says:

I will be honest. I was not all that interested in seeing how other people used your products. It seemed more like a sales pitch to me to buy the products than anything else. I was much more interested in seeing what your ideas were for which you created those products to come to life. This is not to disparage your media team in any way–they are all talented and creative artists and I know if one designer is a favorite, I can view their work (all of it, not just that using your products) any time. But I felt the lack of a personal connection very strongly. When you go to the Tim Holtz blog, you want Tim Holtz, not just other people using Tim Holtz products. For me, you made the right decision. Your personal connection with people is what got you where you are today and what will keep you there. I’m happy to view your media team’s work via links, but to make it the bread and butter of your website was no longer working for me. I know it wasn’t easy on a personal level, but I think you made a good decision overall. I was pretty much skipping looking at your website, but I will now be back to see what u r up to. Don’t mean this in any harsh negative way, just constructive criticism, which is the most valuable thing in the world if you are a big enough person to hear it, and I think u r there.

  33. Dana Edwards says:

So happy you made this decision. While I have enjoyed all the creativity that the media team has shared, oh how I have missed you. So, so happy!

  34. Donna Kalinowsky says:

Why not do both? The media team can post less often or the same amount and you can blog when you’re able or have something to say even if a team member also has a project to share. If you need the space to just post your own thoughts, then have the media team only post once a week in rotation, on the days you are too busy. If that’s not structured enough, pick one day a week for guest posts from the media team. We love your posts and projects (when you have time to be creative) but also enjoy seeing what other people do with your products. It’s all good!

  35. SaraP says:

I’m happy for your decision, I was missing you a lot. I’ll watch the ladies blogs anyway. So welcome back and happy thanksgiving to you and Mario!

  36. Danee says:

I too greatly missed you here on your blog. While I always enjoy seeing projects made with your products, it is you that is the heart of the art. Paula manages to only add to your artistry and it has never felt like something was missing but always that something was added when her work is highlighted. But when you went bigger-with more members- it just felt empty. I am glad…no Thankful…I am thankful you are back.

  37. Nancy Walker says:

Welcome back, Tim. The team was great, but your creativity, energy, and expertise has been missing…and we are glad you are back! I hope you had a chance to rest and breathe a little, because we know you are dedicated to this industry, and you need all the energy you have to do what you do for it! Thanks so much for that!

  38. Diane says:

I enjoyed the team’s creativity but it wasn’t YOU. I have missed you. I’m looking forward to reading about your adventures and creativeness.
Thank You and enjoy the holiday weekend.

  39. Linda Lee-Northrup says:

Sometimes what we think will work, does not, sometimes the opposite holds true. The value comes in the knowing just when a change is nescesary. So glad you saw what most of us were feeling. I so enjoyed the journey with you as I know so many others do as well. Thank you for allowing us back into the journey with you Tim, after all it is your inspiration that we all enjoy. Looking forward to the months ahead. So thankful for your decision. Linda from Ontario, Canada
