puerto rico scrapbook event recap…

Blogging
greetings from the skies above bloggers!  that's right, i'm on my flight home from puerto rico and blogging from 30,000 feet (gotta love in-flight wireless).  the puerto rico scrapbook event was a blast.  so many fun, creative, and energetic students in puerto rico let me tell you.  thanks to all of the attendees for making this an event i will not forget.  thank you also to our host for the event yamille and her team for taking care of everything – what a ton of work.  so this past weekend over 600 students shared in the fun of this event.  the hotel and convention center were beautiful too.  here's a view from the balcony of our hotel room: the infinity pool on the 4th floor of the hotel, and the convention center on the far left…

the classes went great with the help of mario and our classroom assistant camille.  we created this cool mini journal using art parts creative covers, ring binders, kraft resist, kraft glassine, distress ink, perfect pearl mists, paint dabbers, and of course idea-ology embellishments…
Journal another part of this event was an iron scrapbook challenge the first night.  it was kind of like iron chef style where 2 teams: myself & margie romeny-aslett went against donna downey & the glitz girls.  we were given a table full of supplies, a 12×12 canvas, and a "secret ingredient" we had to use in our creation which turned out to be colorful summertime scrapbook paper.  we had an hour to complete our project to share with the crowd on hand.  there was lots of creative energy and excitement in the room with music pumping, and cheers being screamed and paint, inks, paper, and embellishments were being thrown everywhere.  margie and i decided to express our love for puerto rico on our mixed media canvas with a torn paper heart, distress inks, stains, paint dabbers, and tissue tape flowers collaged over our "secret ingredient" paper background.  when the challenge ended we were told it was a tie, but anyone who was actually there that night definitely knows who the true winners were…
(sorry donna & glitz girls)…
Iron1 Pevent Iron2 thanks again for sharing in the fun…t!m
