new 2014 products – idea-ology…

vellum

we had a great time at the rubber stamp show in carson, california this past weekend.  thanks to everyone who stopped by to watch the demos, and say hello.  it was lots of fun as always, and i’m looking forward to coming back in november…

so with the start of a new week, it’s time to see another new product release for 2014 – new idea-ology vellum!  capture the beauty of nature with the antique designs in the wallflower vellum stash.  the botanical prints partnered with the translucency of the vellum make for a unique effect for layering or adding embellishments to a project.  also new, are the thrift shop and expedition ephemera packs back in a brand new way.  transpose the vellum shapes on any surface to evoke curiosity of old time tales.  let your creativity run wild with the endless possibilities found in this new imagery – all products are shipping now…

today i wanted to share one of my favorite features of vellum, it’s translucency, so here’s a tutorial using my 3D luminary die from sizzix.

DSC00483step 7: cut four pieces of vellum to fit inside the backs of the windows in the die as shown.

DSC00484step 8: apply a small amount of glossy accents inside the back of the window frame, and adhere cut piece of vellum inside the luminary.

DSC00485step 9: repeat for all four panels of the luminary.

DSC00486step 10: remove the red line of the wonder tape and begin adhering panels together.

DSC00487step 11: remove liners of all pieces of tape along each edge to secure the top and bottom areas together.

DSC00489step 13: once all panels are adhered together, fold over the top panel pieces as shown.

DSC00490step 14: remove the red line of the tape and adhere triangle pieces together to form rooftop.

DSC00491step 15: repeat for both parts of the roof top as shown.

DSC00492step 16: insert the points of the rooftop in to the corners of the luminary and apply dots of glossy accents to secure.  let dry.

DSC00493step 17: create the base by folding in flaps and secure with red line tape.

DSC00494step 18: place battery tea light on to base.

DSC00495step 19: place finished luminary on top of tea light to illuminate.

to continue to spark your curiosity of the new vellum surfaces, i’ve teamed up with more creative friends to share in the versatility of creating with this great new surface.  be sure to check out their blogs throughout the week to see tutorials on the various possibilities and inspiration of the new idea-ology vellum – enjoy…t!m

Just checked out the creative projects that your design team came up with. Wow! Have me new ideas for lots of your products. Wish I could afford to buy all your line of paper products, stamps, all the small distress inks (I have the full size ones), all the distress paints (only have a dozen), all the distress stains (only bought a few) and the many embellishments you have created. Since I see sometimes, would love the fabrics, too, but my budget is small and your crafty empire is so large. Keep up the creative genius. I’ll just have to pick and choose what I need the most. Haven’t gotten your new book so I can’t take the challenges each week. Wish my library carried it so I could check it out.
