idea-ology show recap 2013…

ideaologybooth

get ready for more inspiration as we wrap up the show recaps today with idea-ology.  i have to say that when it comes to theme and decor, idea-ology is my dream booth since it’s filled with my own personal vintage treasures.  when paula and i are shopping for booth props each year, our imagination clearly runs wild and nothing is off limits.  it always amazes me when we start setting up the booth each show that it literally looks like an antique flea market scattered everywhere.  thanks to the team efforts of paula cheney and debbie crouse we somehow transform this pile of found remnants into a feast for the eyes (you can see more behind the scenes photos on paula’s blog).  this year with the launch of both laboratorie (halloween/steampunk) and merriment (christmas/winter) we were basically able to divide the booth into 2 very uniquely themed areas.  so sit back, relax, and enjoy the visual journey of idea-ology…

let’s start with laboratorie and escape into the world of a mad scientist working away in his eclectic lab of potions and found objects.  the setting of this cool black cubby shelf was the perfect prop to fill with rustic bottles, vintage prescriptions, and other random elements.  our mascot was this fantastic replica skeleton which hung there to greet everyone (there were definitely some fun photos taken by many with this guy).  the samples were intermixed with vintage test tubes, skulls, microscope, eye chart, and accented by a cool periodic table of elements…

the projects were equally inspiring showcasing the versatility of this black and white line with cards, scrapbooks, configurations, bottles, and more.  i also loved how many designers incorporated the new releases of stamps and sizzix dies with their projects – always inspiring…

next, we immerse ourselves into a world of wonderland and merriment.  this christmas themed part of the booth was simply over the top filled with nostalgic holiday treasures accented by iced pine sprigs – you couldn’t help but be filled with holiday spirit.  some of my favorite decorative elements included this great hand-painted vintage christmas sign that hung over the infamous colorful trees that mario made.  i also loved the wooden sleds converted into shelves to display many project samples, but i must say that i am still just overjoyed with the vintage sleigh that was definitely the focal point in the booth once again.  just makes you want to take a sleigh ride and start singing christmas carols doesn’t it?…

there was certainly no shortage of holiday spirit with the assortment of projects in the booth.  the mix of cards, mini books, and scrapbook pages were certainly festive, but i have to say that the designers simply blew me away with their configuration ideas.  i loved the advent configurations tray, the gilded configurations box, and certainly the wall hanging configurations bow – all unique, and all amazing…
