good friends = good times…

i love it when good friends come to visit.  it’s not too often we’re home, let alone without a crazy list of deadlines to get finished, but this weekend we made time.  our friends joy and chelle took a road trip from california to spend the weekend with us.  with only 3 short days which included their 6+ hour drive each way, we had lots on our to-do list.  when they arrived we needed to unload their car that was filled with booth props from CHA that they offered to hold on to since the show and drive them here (i really appreciated that).  now i can’t wait to find a new home for these treasures in the house – i always love a design challenge…

the top priority of course was the “menu” of delicious food mario always cooks.  he had them make a wish list of meals for the 3 days not including the already fab breakfast of home-made scones, oatmeal, bagels, and coffees he does.  as you can see the list was more than covered with lots of bonus eats throughout the weekend – what a treat (thanks mario)!

day 2 we hit the open road for a road trip to jerome and sedona since neither joy or chelle had ever been.  the weather was beautiful, blue skies and sunshine.  we had a great lunch and the haunted hamburger in jerome, then made our way to sedona for 3:00 o’clock coffee at starbucks – what a view…

in addition to a good lunch, the girls also had their first taste of a prickly pear margarita.  prickly pear is a fruit that grows on cactus here in arizona and is sweet and delicious.  so we picked up some prickly pear syrup and decided to continue the margarita party back at the house.  i enjoyed a moscow mule while mario enjoyed his blue moon, lots of laughs were had that evening i assure you…

today we made our way to a local lake and enjoyed a wonderful hiking trail around the water’s edge.  the weather once again was absolutely perfect and the smell of the fresh pine was whirling in the air…

we made our way along the scenic forest trail stopped to capture a photo or two along the way.  tonight they were back on the road to make it back to california in time for their morning work shifts.  it sure is the best feeling to enjoy time with good friends – we need to remember to do this more often and #rememberthenow.
hope you enjoy your week…t!m

You and Mario are blessed with good friends because you are good people! Sounds like you had a well earned break/fun. May be Mario could please…pretty please share the prickly pear margarita recipe (and the pizza one too?)? I LOVE MARGARITAS and I make only the lemon ones, this would be a great addition!

I love it when your blog takes me along to my home state, it always makes me happy to bring up the memories of my childhood and kinda makes me sad that I no longer get to enjoy it daily. (work transplanted 30+ years ago)
    Thanks for sharing!

    Dear Tim,
I am a stamper from Taiwan, I got a question need your advise.
The weather in Taiwan is wet with high humidity, when I used Ranger Distress Spray Stain for background, to avoid mildew, I want to put some fixative or matt media in the surface, but, when I apply fixative, the color of distress spray stain will be reacted with fixative, in this case, my original design of the background will be ruined. Do you have any good suggestion for me to protect my project from mildew ? Thank you very much !

Oh lucky you! I have been in some of those same places, Jerome, Sedona, and really love that area! Jerome is a great little hippie town and I am an old hippie so I felt right at home there. Looks like the girls brought back some cool stuff for your place. Good to hear that you took a real break, even though it was short! I’m sure you picked up some new inspiration from your trip as well. You look so happy and refreshed too!
