eclectic elements spring quilt market 2014…

quiltbooth
we’re back from attending the spring quilt market in pittsburgh, pennsylvania this past weekend.  it was so exciting to launch my second collection of eclectic elements fabric with coats/westminster.  the response from our debut launch last spring was so good that all of the original 24 designs are still being produced in addition to the 13 new designs shipping in june.  thank you all for the support of this fabric collection, and for embracing it’s unconventional place in the world of textile.  thanks also to the team at coats/westminster for allowing me to stay true to my creative self in designing this line that i consider “perfectly imperfect”…

here’s a glimpse of the booth from quilt market, and many of the amazing samples created by the following talented designers – thanks so much to each of them for sharing a piece of their unique style and craftsmanship: paula cheney, richele christensen, scott hansen, amy friend, carol caraccia, nancy roelfsema, patricia petty, michele crump, and connie fong.  i love the nostalgic inspired designs of eclectic elements fabrics, and the variety of skillful projects made with it…

we arrived at the convention center on thursday for set-up day of the booth.  there were crates to unpack, fixtures to build, props to organize, signage to hang, and samples to display.  it all came together beautifully thanks to the help of paula and mario (and of course super dave).  it was really great to see the projects for the first time and actually get to hold them and see the craftsmanship than went into them.  the booth looked incredible with the eclectic mix of 37 fabric designs, artful projects, all displayed with a touch of vintage goodness including the coolest upholstered chair…

once again the talented scott hansen from blue nickel studios designed and created the quilt that hung on the back wall of the booth.  this is my favorite of all time that he has named “hashbrowns for breakfast”.  i know scott is working on a pattern for this quilt that will be available on coat’s website later this year.  we also had the talented nancy roelfsema who created a beautiful quilt to showcase the fabric and also worked tirelessly everyday of the show writing orders for the fabrics through notions marketing – thanks nancy…

in addition to working my booth with nancy, i also spent an hour each day in the sizzix booth demonstrating the vagabond machine and many of my sizzix die designs.  it’s always fun to showcase the versatility of steel rule dies especially the new frameworks that had many attendees blown away by the awesome projects richele christensen made using them…

like i said, there was the most amazing projects displayed throughout the booth including a stunning layered apron, home decor lamp shade and memo board projects, creatively designed pillows, and versatile bags and totes.  everyone who stopped by the booth was simply blown away by the projects – take a look at some of them…
