supplies:

  • inks: distress ink antique linen/vintage photo/walnut stain/ground espresso; alcohol ink teakwood
  • glitter: distress glitter clear rock candy
  • mediums: glossy accents; white gesso
  • surfaces: paper stash/tidings; mixed-media heavystock
  • embellishments: ephemera christmas; remnant rubs gilded christmastime; adornments pinecones/ice skates; woodlands; jump rings; ring fasteners; jute string
  • dies: thinlits treeline
  • tools: craft sheet; mini blending tools; scissors; craft pick
  • misc: IKEA ribba 9×9 shadowbox frame

gueststeps1_4Step 1: Take a shadow box frame and deconstruct, (I used an IKEA Ribba 9×9” frame).

Step 2: Using a Paper Trimmer, cut strips from the Tidings Paper Stash and cover the frame mount.

Step 3: Die cut 3x Mixed Media Heavystock with the Tree Line Thinlits Die. Blend in Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Tree Distress Ink and edge with Ground Espresso Distress Ink using a Mini Blending Tool.

Step 4: Cut a piece of paper 6×6 inches from the Tidings Paper Stash. Adhere ephemera from the Christmas Ephemera Pack and 1 of the 3 tree line die cuts, (setting aside the other 2 for later).

gueststeps5_8Step 5: Adhere the frame mount over the 6×6” paper piece. Decorate the frame mount with Gilded Christmastime Remnant Rubs.

Step 6: With your finger, gently rub White Gesso over Woodlands, Woodlands Mini Tree Lot, Woodlands Small Tree Lot trees and Boxwood Twine and leave to air dry. Squeeze Glossy Accents onto a Non Stick Craft Mat and gently skim the Woodlands Trees and Boxwood Twine though it, immediately roll in Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter and set aside to dry.

Step 7: Mount the Woodlands Trees onto the inner frame with Glossy Accents. Run double sided tape along the bottom outer edge of the inner frame.

Step 8: Take the 2 Tree Line Die cuts set aside earlier and adhere them to the double sided tape. Trim the bottom and side edges as required. They will sit against the glass when you reconstruct the frame.

gueststeps9_12Step 9: Add Adornments Pincones and Teakwood Alcohol Ink to a cup and swirl until all the pinecones are covered and set aside to air dry.

Step 10: Hang the Adornments Pinecones from the Boxwood Twine with Jump Rings and adhere into the corners of the inner frame with hot glue. Add a dab of hot glue to the middle of the Boxwood Twine and attach to the background.

Step 11: Hang a pair of Adornments Ice Skates from a Ring Fasteners and adhere a Jute String bow with Glossy Accents.

Step 12: Assemble the box frame and hang or stand as holiday home decor. (*NOTE: the glass is not pictured in the frame as it’s impossible to photograph without reflection).
