supplies: craft sheet, distress ink/winter seasonal/walnut stain/frayed burlap, paint dabber/snow cap/gold/silver/copper, archival ink/jet black, glossy accents, stickles/christmas red, ink blending tool, distress stain/fired brick/peeled paint, #8 manila tag; grungeboard, journaling tickets, plaquettes, sprocket gears, game spinners, alpha parts, light bulbs, pen nibs, vial labels, film strip ribbon, tiny attacher, sanding grip; CMS107, CMS120; dies weathered clock, gadget gears

step 1: apply snow cap paint dabber to stamp by tapping on to stamp.

step 2: stamp image with medium pressure and lift.

step 3: dry the stamped image with heat tool.

step 4: ink the tag with various colors of distress inks (winter seasonal) using ink blending tool.

step 5: stamp the text background with archival ink using the ghosting stamping method i shared on yesterday’s tag.

step 6: ink the edges of the tag with distress ink (walnut stain) using ink blending.

step 7: drag the paper distresser along the edge to reveal the tag core.

step 8: die cut weathered clock and gadget gears from grungeboard.

step 9: paint them with metallic paint dabbers (silver/gold/copper) and sand the edges with sanding grip.

step 10: ink the sanded grunge with distress ink (walnut stain) using ink blending tool.

step 11: apply glossy accents to back of 1/2 of the clock.

step 12: adhere to the tag and trim excess.

step 13: stack grunge gears and adhere with glossy accents and adhere sprocket gear to top.

step 14: paint tips and edges of gears with white paint dabber and let dry.

step 15: stamp journaling ticket with finger stamp using archival ink.

step 17: stamp steampunk guys on grungeboard with archival ink.  let dry.

step 18: cut out steampunk guys with sharp scissors.

step 19: ink the edges with distress ink (frayed burlap) using ink blending tool.

step 20: paint plaquette with black paint dabber.

step 21: be sure to completely cover the plaquette with paint.

step 22: lightly blot excess paint with towel and your fingers until you like the antiqued effect.

step 24: place steampunk guys on cork, place plaquette on top and pierce holes with craft pick.  secure with long fasteners.

step 25: apply foam tape to back of steampunk guys.

step 26: attach film strip ribbon and ticket to tag with tiny attacher, layer steampunk guys on the top.

step 27: stamp vial label with mini admit one from little labels stamp set.

step 30: adhere mini holly leaves to hats using glossy accents and dot with christmas red stickles.

step 31: adhere grunge gears to tag with glossy accents.  place sprocket gears and game spinner over larger gears and secure to tag with long fastener.

the details: of course to add a festive touch, i added bits of holly leaves and a dot of christmas red stickles to get these guys in the spirit.

so to keep the steampunk theme going, i thought it would be fun to share some ideas for working with my pocket watches.  these are so simple to make and so many possibilities to let your creativity wander.  enjoy this little video i put together…

the details: these festive pocket watches are great for ornaments, wearables, or mixed media projects.  i like the effects of adding some shakable glass glitter inside.

well thanks bloggers for allowing me to have fun with today’s tag and bonus project.  i just love the randomness of creating a holiday tag using a steampunk theme.  like i said at the beginning of the 12 tags, it’s all about just being inspired, to create, and trust your crazy ideas.  they say ’tis the season to be jolly – this tag definitely does that…t!m
